
HSFO began a training program many years ago in an effort to provide greater benefit to its members. An objective of our long-term plan is to provide a broader range of training subjects in greater depth.
If your area of interest isn't shown below, we would still like to know what topics you would have an interest in attending. These could be considered by our training committee for future training events.

A three-part course (Basic or Fundamentals, Intermediate, Advanced) consisting of three days for each part. Each course will cover details of various aspects of the Medicaid entitlement grant. Basic concepts and techniques will be taught along with current issues and more complex concepts. The entire course will span approximately two years for all three parts.
Three-part course (Basic or Fundamentals, Intermediate, Advanced) consisting of three days for each part. Course will cover details of various financial aspects of state Child Welfare programs and the IV-E entitlement grant. Basic concepts and techniques will be taught along with current issues and more complex concepts. The entire course will span approximately two years for all three parts.
One-part, three-day course covering basics of cost allocation principles and techniques for federal grants, and related subjects such as RMS. This course will repeat every two years.
In addition, a one-part Advanced COST ALLOCATION three-day course is also offered.

A comprehensive course for federal income maintenance and return-to-work programs funded by major federal grants. This course will repeat every two years.
Course objectives will enable the attendee to:
o List the three phases of the life cycle of grants

Identify
and determine the impact of pending federal legislation and administrative
changes on States
o Identify and navigate through the applicable federal laws and regulation pertaining to grants administration.

Effectively
manage grants to ensure effective and proper accountability of all funds.

administration and performance, and what factors impact it
· Performance, and
the primary approaches to improving performance
· Partnerships and shared responsibilities in the grants process
· Risk assessment in the grants monitoring process

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Financing
In this new era of re-aligning funding
sources for behavioral health services, transitions resulting from Mental Health Parity, implementation of
the Affordable Care Act (ACA),
Agency administrators and financial leaders must develop the knowledge and
tools necessary to navigate an array of complex requirements and evolving
service demands. Timeliness and
effectiveness of service delivery and financial support are of vital concern. This Training seminar will focus on such
issues facing administrators, financial managers and professionals today.
